On the homepage, click on “Online Registration” and follow the instructions.
All players must register with USA Hockey and Casco Bay Hockey PRIOR to the first evaluation. Players will not be allowed onto the ice for evaluations without proof of registration. This policy will be STRICTLY ENFORCED for the 2010-2011 season.
Evaluations
To ensure that the teams are equally balanced, it is important that each player attend all of his/her evaluation sessions. Please note, that these are not “try outs” all players will make a team. It is also important that each player only attend the sessions corresponding to his/her last name. If a player is not able to attend one of his/her designated evaluation sessions, please send an e-mail to the Squirt Director at squirts@cascobayhockey.com.
Please note: The assignments may change slightly based upon enrollment. Please check back to ensure your child has not been moved to a new time slot.

Selection of Teams
After all of the evaluation sessions have been completed, the coaches will hold a draft at which the teams will be selected. The coaches will then contact their players directly by phone or e-mail. If you have not heard from a coach by Friday, October 8th, please contact the Squirts Director.
Season
The season will consist of approximately 40 hours of total ice team (which will include an end-of-year house tournament). This will average out to approximately 2 hours of ice time per week, with some weeks having more and some having less ice time. Ice time is held at one of three arenas: Portland Ice Arena (PIA), Falmouth Family Ice Center (FFIC), and Travis Roy Arena North Yarmouth Academy (NYA). The early morning times (e.g., 6:00 am) will be spread among the teams as equally as possible. The practice and game schedule for each month will be posted on-line as far in advance as possible. However, please check with your coach or TA or online at www.cascobayhockey.com for possible schedule changes throughout the season (including the day of the scheduled game/practice).
Extended Play [EP] Teams
Casco Bay Squirt House Division expects to field 2 Extended Play (EP) teams this year. EP is ice time that is in addition to the House program and for which there is an additional charge. Approximately 30 kids will be selected based upon their evaluation scores. The highest ranking skaters will be offered a spot on one of the two teams. It is anticipated that the EP teams will have a number of games against each other as well as against other teams within the region.
If you are interested in coaching an EP team, please email me at squirts@cascobayhockey.com.
No Cross Ice Games
Unlike the Mites House Division, the Squirt House Division does not play “cross ice games”. Please note that because a cross ice game involves four teams (instead of two), they only count as a half hour of ice time for each mite team. Therefore, for players moving up from mites, it may appear early in the season that they had more ice time as a mite than they do as a squirt.
Goalies
Coaches are expected to rotate the goalie position among interested players. Casco Bay Hockey supplies the goalie equipment for each team. Please send an e-mail to the Squirt Director at squirts@cascobayhockey.com if your son/daughter is interested in playing goalie as much as possible. We will try to spread the “diehard goalies” equally among the teams.
Shamrock Tournament
In addition to the regular season and end-of-year house tournament, each squirt house team will play at least 3 games in Casco Bay Hockey’s Shamrock Tournament which is to be scheduled. During the tournament, we will need parents to volunteer to be greeters, sell t-shirts, etc.
Coaching
If you are interested in coaching a squirt team this season please contact either myself at squirts@cascobayhockey.com or John Veilleux, the coaching director of Casco Bay Hockey, at coaching@cascobayhockey.com . All squirt coaches must be USA Hockey level 2 certified and more information concerning that can be found in the coaching item on the menu to the left.
Thank you for your interest. Feel free to contact me at squirts@cascobayhockey.com with any further questions. Let's have a great season!
